Iranian short lineup goes on screen at Ellensburg filmfest

Iranian short lineup has gone on screen at the 14th edition of the Annual Ellensburg Film Festival in the US.

The Iranian lineup includes short black and white ‘With Me’, as well as short animations ‘Balance’ and ‘Blows with the Wind’.

Directed by Azadeh Qochaq, ‘With Me’ is a five-minute black and white film that tells the story of a girl who makes vain attempts to run away from her past.

‘With Me’ has so far attended some international events, including the 5th Derby Film Festival, the 28th Cinequest Film Festival, the 2018 Full Bloom Film Festival and the 12th San Francisco Frozen Film Festival in the US, as well as the 2018 Puerto Madryn International Film Festival and the 3rd Santa Cruz International Film Festival in Argentina

Directed by Barzan Rostami and produced by the Documentary & Experimental Film Center in Iran, ‘Balance’, tells the story of soldiers who sacrificed their lives so that the people of the city may live in peace.

The short animation has so far attended the Adrian International Film Festival, the Ojai Film Festival, and the Full Bloom Film Festival in the US, as well as the Redline International Film Festival and the Regina International Film Festival and Awards in Canada.

A special mention certificate for the best direction at the 2018 LakeCity International Film Festival in India and the award for best art movie at the 2018 Sarajevo Youth Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina are among the latest achievements by ‘Balance’.

Directed by Hazhir Asadi, ‘Blows with the Wind’ narrates the story of a scarecrow that faces some unpleasant events. The scarecrow becomes human and breaks away from those situations.

On the way he comes across two other scarecrows whose conditions are not better than that of him. Thus he is on the horns of a dilemma and has to make a hard decision.

More than 30 international film festivals, including the Fotogramma d'Oro Short Film Festival in Italy, the Interrobang Film Festival, the Dragon Con Independent Film Festival, the Fayetteville Film Festival, the Hoosierdance International Film Festival, the Fly Film Festival, and Carnegie Screenwriters 2nd Annual Script & Screen Festival in the US, as well as the 2nd Balkan Can Kino Film Festival in Greece have so far hosted the animation ‘Blows with the Wind’ in 2018.

It won the Best Short Film Award at the 3rd TweetFest Film Festival in the UK, the best animation award at the Cineframe International Short Film Festival of India, the best narrative and best script awards at the SSU Indie Film Festival in the US, as well as the 2nd Short Animation Award at the International Children’s Film Festival of Jaipur in India.

The Ellensburg Film Festival is an event that draws film lovers from throughout the northwest and other regions to the Kittitas Valley each year. The event seeks a variety of films including national and international features, shorts and documentaries.

The 14th edition of the event was held on October 5-7, 2018, at McConnell Hall and Tower Theater in Ellensburg, Washington, the US.
