Turkish film festival nominates Iranian 'Run Rostam Run'

The 12th edition of the Architecture and Urban Films Festival in Turkey has nominated Iranian short animation ‘Run Rostam Run’ for Best Animation.

Directed by Hossein Molayemi, 'Run Rostam Run' is about an old Persian national hero who should travel to the future and come to Tehran 2017 in order to make up for what he has done to his own son. In Tehran, he doesn't know whether to choose the legal or illegal way to reach his legitimate goal.

The 11-minute animation is a free comic adaptation of the traditional Persian tragic story of Rostam and Sohrab in Ferdowsi's masterpiece 'Shahnameh'.

The animated film was first screened at the Tehran International Animation Festival where it won the best animation and the best director awards.

It has also gone on screen at the Athens Animfest in Greece, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, the Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival in South Korea, the New Horizon International Youth Festival of Short Cinema and Animation in Russia, the Cinema Perpetuum Mobile International Film Festival in Belarus, the Golden Kuker International Animation Film Festival in Bulgaria, the Prokuplje Short Film Festival in Serbia, the River Film Festival and the La Guarimba International Film Festival in Italy, the LINOLEUM International Contemporary Animation and Media Art Festival in Ukraine, the Flickers' Rhode Island Int’l Film Festival in the US, the Visioni Corte International Short Film Festival in Italy, the Persian International Film Festival in Australia, the Animasyros International Film Festival in Greece, and the Saint Louis Film Festival in the US.

'Run Rostam Run' succeeded to stand among the 8 award winners at the 8th Edukino Film Festival in Poland and won the best film award at the Wular Lake International Short-Film Festival in India.

The 12th edition of the Architecture and Urban Films Festival is slated for October 20-27, 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The festival is scheduled as a part of “Architecture and Urban Festival” organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Branch of Chamber of Architects by virtue of the “World Architecture Day”, a day widely celebrated in the world in the first Monday of October every year.

The festival features types of films including documentaries and animations. Miscellaneous conversations and events may also be held to ensure exchange of ideas between participants regarding the subject matter.
