Iranian cineastes to judge Iraqi cinema at Duhok

Iranian cineastes Mastaneh Mohajer and Khosro Sina are to join jury of the 6th Duhok Int'l Film Festival in Iraq.

Iranian editor/producer Mastaneh Mohajer and screenwriter Khosro Sina have been selected to join the Kurdish Cinema Jury at  the 6th Duhok International Film Festival (Duhok IFF) in Iraq.

The Iranian cineastes will judge the films at Kurdish Cinema section along with the US director/actress Canan Gerede, French lecturer in Kurdish cinema Pauline Tucoulet, and Greek actor/director/writer Ahmet Zirek.

Born in 1974 in Tehran, Mohajer started studying Editing in Sooreh University in 1994 while she was a film editing and sound editing assistant.

Some of her more successful films are '10' by Abbas Kiarostami, 'Osama' by Sediq Barmak, and 'Kick Off' by Shoukat Amin. Mohajer produced 'Israfil', directed by Ida Panahandeh, which is internationally acclaimed.

Born in Mahabad in 1971, Sina is a university professor, director, screenwriter, and playwright. So far he has written and directed a number of feature films, TV series and plays.

Sina is the founder of Department of Arts in Azad University in Sanadaj city. For years he has delivered lectures, written and published numerous academic researches and books. He has also conducted many workshops and seminars.

The Duhok IFF is an annual film festival held in Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan Region. Each year the Duhok IFF presents new and exciting cinema from the Kurdish Cinema and beyond.

The 6th edition of the festival is slated for October 20 to 27, 2018.
