Iranian animation, 'The Last Fiction' directed by Ashkan Rahgozar, has won Best Animated Feature Film at the 3rd AJAYU International Animation Festival held in Puno, Peru.

Rahgozar's film was awarded Best Animated Feature Film by the jury for its "technical quality, originality of the script, and great production interpreting the mythology of the region in a fantastic way."

'The Last Fiction' is an animated account based on the story of 'Zahhak', a tale from an Iranian national epic The Shahnameh (Book of Kings), written by Iranian poet Abolqasem Ferdowsi. The 120-minute-long animation offers a different perspective to ancient Iranian heroes and legends mentioned in Ferdowsi's masterpiece.

Some popular Iranian actors were in the animations voice acting lineup, namely: Parviz Parastoui, Hamed Behdad, Baran Kosari, Ashkan Khatibi, Farrokh Nemati, Hassan Pourshirazi, Majid Mozaffari, Shaqayeq Farahani, Melika Sharifinia, Akbar Zanjanpour, Zoheir Yari, and Bita Farrahi.

The AJAYU Festival is a window so that the world of animation can be seen taking advantage of the celebrated days of the city of Puno, generating diverse public through their projections, talks, advice and workshops.
