Oscar-winner 'The Silent Child' to vie in Iran's Roshd filmfest

Oscar-winning British short film 'The Silent Child' is to compete at Iran's 48th Roshd Int'l Film Festival.

Oscar-winning British short film 'The Silent Child' has been set to take part at the international competition of the 48th Roshd International Film Festival in Iran.

"The presence of an Oscar-winning film in the competition section of the Roshd festival is a new occurrence for Iranian festivals," said Navid Azad, the secretary-general of the international section of the Roshd.

Written and directed by Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton, the 20-minute film was produced in 2017 and won an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film in 2018.

The film is about a 4-year-old girl named Libby who struggles to communicate.

The Silent Child won several awards at some prominent festivals, including best short film at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in the US in August 2017.

Iran's Ali Farahani and Amir Konjani were the cinematographer and music composer of the film, respectively.

The 48th edition of the Iranian festival is set to take place on November 16-23, 2018, in Tehran.
