Iranian movie ‘Bitter Sea’ has been nominated to win one of the five main awards at the British Independent Film Awards.

Directed by Fatemeh Ahmadi, the short film has won the nomination for the best short film award.

‘Bitter Sea’ is slated to compete with four other short films from around the world to win the award.

‘Bitter Sea’ is about the suffering of an immigrant mother.

It tells the story of a Romanian single mother who escapes from an abusive husband and flees to London to build a better future for her daughter.

She has found a job and place to live, but the landlord has a strict ‘no children allowed’ policy. Trapped in an impossible situation, she has to find a way to hide her daughter being in the flat.

The British Independent Film Awards highlight and reward the best, most innovative and creative independent filmmaking and filmmakers in the UK.

The closing ceremony of the event is slated for December 1, 2018.
