Fajr filmfest receives 97 feature film submissions

Some 97 feature films have been submitted to the 37th edition of Fajr Film Festival in Iran, reports say.

As the submission deadline came, Fajr Film Festival announced that 97 feature films have applied to take part in the gala’s main competition section 'Soda-ye-Simorgh' as well as the New Vision section.

In addition, a total of 42 documentaries were submitted to participate in the prestigious Iranian festival.

The 37th edition of Fajr Film Festival is set to kick off on January 30, 2019 and will run until February 11, 2019 in the capital Tehran. The event will be headed by Ebrahim Daroghezadeh

The festival coincides with the Ten-Day Dawn ceremonies across Iran, marking the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.

This is while, the international version of the Fajr Film Festival will be held in April 2019.
