Iran play ‘Seven Cities of Love’ takes on Abolfazl Pourarab

ifilm ‘Confidant’ series star Abolfazl Pourarab has joined to perform in a new opera-play ‘Seven Cities of Love’.

In the new theatrical performance, Pourarab will be playing the role Ahura Mazda that is an epic character in the Iranian literature. The character is the creator and sole God of Zoroastrianism.

‘Seven Cities of Love’ as put by the Iranian poet Attar of Nishapur narrates the story of some birds that start a journey to reach the source of all knowledge or Ahura Mazda. The fruit of this long path to wisdom is getting to know oneself better or the same idea of self-awareness.  

Born in 1961, Abolfazl Pourarab began his career with theater in 1980 and made his first cinema appearance by acting a short role in the movie ‘Plectrum’ (1983).

He has appeared in several movies and series, some of which have been aired by ifilm such as ‘Tainted Hands’ and ‘The Bride’.

Mohammad-Reza Foroutan, Hanieh Tavassoli, Pantea Bahram, Merila Zarei, Andisheh Fouladvand and Nasim Adabi are also among the cast members of ‘Seven Cities of Love’.

Iranian vocalists Rouzbeh Nematollahi, Salar Aqili and Rouzbeh Bemani have joined the dramatic performance to carry out the singing parts.

The music is also set to be played live on the stage by Tehran Symphony Orchestra led by Iranian musician Shahrdad Rouhani.

According to a media report, the new play is set to go on stage at the Ministry of Interior Hall.
