Two Iranian short films win at Mobile Film Festival

Two Iranian shorts are awarded at the 14th Mobile Film Festival, an online competition held in partnership with the UN.

Two Iranian titles have grabbed awards at the 14th Mobile Film Festival, an online competition dedicated to one-minute films, held in partnership with the United Nations.

Iranian filmmaker Hamid-Reza Zakiani received the best director award for ‘Hush’.

Moreover, Iran’s short film ‘Maiden’, written and made by Fatemeh Saeedi and Saeed Aqakhani, won the best screenplay award of the festival.

The event also displayed the Iranian films ‘Bon Appetite’ by Saman Haqiqivand and ‘How to Clean a Window with Newspaper?’ co-directed by Kiarash Ardeshirpour and Amir-Hassan Nofeli.

The contest was jointly hosted by the UN Office for Human Rights (OHCHR), the European Union, and YouTube Creators for Change, according to the UN News.

The UN allied with the festival to host its 14th international film competition to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, marked 10 December.

The participants in the competition were asked to create films about human rights issues of interest, and adhere to three guidelines: one film, made on a single mobile device, lasting one minute or less.

Awards were given to the winners after the jury viewed the films on December 4.

The Mobile Film Festival aims to “reveal and support emerging talent, by giving them the floor from all different cultures and backgrounds.”
