Cinema Verite's top 5 picks for day two announced

Armin Isarian's documentary ‘Mysteries of the Lake’ was selected as the top pick by the audience at the end of the second day of the 12th Iran International Documentary Film Festival (Cinema Verite).

The top 5 documentaries picked by the audience at the end of the second day of the Cinema Verite festival have been announced, with ‘Mysteries of the Lake’ directed and produced by Armin Isarian receiving the most votes.

Isarian’s documentary is about a mysterious crater lake in an archaeological site in Iran’s West Azarbaijan province which is being explored for the first time in history.

‘The Vars’ directed by Javad Vatani, ‘Mahin’ directed by Mohammad Hossein Heidari, ‘Asak’ directed by Mehdi Zamanpour Kiasari, and ‘A House for You’ directed by Mehdi Bakhshi-Moqadam were in second to fifth place respectively.

The 12th annual Cinema Verite International Film Festival is one of the largest documentary festivals in Iran featuring documentaries from over 20 countries and five continents. The festival is currently underway in Tehran until December 16, 2018. The motto for this year’s event is 'The truth is the best guide' by Imam Ali (AS).
