As we approach the 37th annual Fajr Film Festival, Iranian filmmakers are working day and night to have their films ready in time for the event.

'Is it Farid? He says 8 o’clock'

The latest reports on the status of the movie ‘Is it Farid? He says 8 o’clock’ directed by Masoud Farjam, indicate that three new actresses have been added to the cast of the film.

Azadeh Sadiri, Roshanak Gerami, and Elaheh Afshari will be acting alongside Azarakhsh Farahani, Sam Hesami, and Shaqayeq Farahani.

In what the producer Peyman Rad describes as a drama with a “social and youthful ambiance”, the story is a narrative on two nights into the life of five young people who ruin their destiny after making a series of wrong decisions and bad choices.

‘Goodbye Shirazi Girl’

The next film that is busy preparing itself for the festival is ‘Goodbye Shirazi Girl’ directed by Afshin Hashemi.

Having recently completed filming in Tehran, the movie is now going through the technical stages.

The romantic-comedy is based on one of American playwright Neil Simon’s works, which is being rewritten by Afshin Hashemi with a twist of Iranian humor.

According to the movie’s description, the story is about “two people; one being from Shiraz and the other from Abadan, with both living in Tehran, having to tolerate each other until they find Mahmoud the scoundrel.”

The film’s cast includes Hossein Yari, Shabnam Moghaddami, Afshin Hashemi, Hossein Moheb-Ahari, Mona Farjad, Houman Barqnavard, Hedayat Hashemi, and Rasoul Sadr-Ameli.

‘Blade and Cashmere’

Directed by Kioumars Pourahmad, ‘Blade and Cashmere’ is currently going through the sound mixing and visual effects stage, with the film soon to have a final copy ready to be sent for the 37th Fajr Film Festival.

The film’s cast will feature Pejman Bazeghi , Houman Barghnavard, Mehran Rajabi, Laleh Eskandari, Diba Zahedi, Maziar Khosravi and Kourosh Soleymani.

The Fajr International Film Festival is an annual event held on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, celebrating Iranian cinema. This year’s festival will be held from January 30-February 11, 2019 commemorating the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
