‘Snowman’ and ‘Leily is With Me’ to be screened

Iran movies ‘Snowman’ and ‘Leily is With Me’ are to go on screen in Tehran’s Cinema Museum.

‘Snowman’ and ‘Leily is With Me’ have been selected to go on screen at Tehran’s Cinema Museum for the 11th session of screening selected movies of 40 years of Iranian Cinema program.

To be held on Thursday, critics will analyze the movies during the session with members of the Cinema Museum.

The selected movies of 40 years of Iranian Cinema had been scanned and color-corrected, so the Cinema Museum will screen high-quality versions of the movies.

Directed by Davoud Mir-Baqeri, ‘Snowman’ is a social comedy made in 1994. The cast includes Akbar Abdi, Azita Hajiyan, Daryoush Arjmand, Mehdi Fathi, Parviz Parastouee, Mohammad-Reza Sharifinia, Sirous Gorjestani, and Shohreh Lorestani.

In the movie, after being denied to receive a US visa several times, Abbas tries a new approach and it works; he applies as a woman! While in Turkey, he meets an Iranian woman who has been stranded there by her ex-husband.

Knowing the woman, Abbas starts developing feelings for her and tries to help her overcome some troubles. The new relationship causes him to think twice about his goal of migrating to the US.

Directed by Kamal Tabrizi, ‘Leily is With Me’ is a war comedy made in 1995. The cast includes Parviz Parastouee, Mahmoud Azizi, Shohreh Lorestani, Rahman Baqerian, and Mehdi Faqih.

During the Iraq-Iran war, an absurd set of events leads an Iranian documentary cinematographer to make every attempt to get out of a dangerous project documenting the war. Confronting the danger, the filmmaker has to deal with his fears.
