Cinema Verite awards ‘In the Realm of the Spider-Tailed’

Iran’s documentary ‘In the Realm of the Spider-Tailed’ has received the Audience Award for Best Film at the 12th edition of the Cinema Verite international documentary film festival.

The top 10 Iranian documentaries picked by the audience were announced on Wednesday, with ‘In the Realm of the Spider-Tailed’, directed by Fathollah Amiri, receiving the most votes.

The film was followed by Mohammad-Hossein Heidari’s ‘Mahin’ and ‘A House for You’ directed by Mehdi Bakhshi-Moqaddam, which were ranked second and third, respectively.

‘Issue Date (Tarikhe Sodour)’ by Majid Azizi, ‘Persepolis Chicago’ made by Arad Attarpour, ‘Homayoun’ directed by Parviz Kalantari, and Armin Isarian’s ‘Mysteries of the Lake’ came in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh places, respectively.

Meanwhile, the last three places were taken by ‘Where the Wind Blows’ (Anja ke bad mi varzad) by Mina Mashhadi-Mehdi, ‘Asak’ by Mehdi Zamanpour-Kiasari, and ‘Exodus’ by Bahman Kiarostami.

Organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the first edition of the Cinema Verite was held in 2007.

Over the past decade it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran's documentary film calendar.

The 12th edition of the Cinema Verite was held in December 2018.
