“Mercy to the Universe” International Short Film Competition in Turkey with a theme on the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has shortlisted three Iranian films.
The three titles making it to the final selection in the short film category of the event includes 'Birthday Night' by Omid Shams, 'The Passer' by Pouria Pishvaei and Omid Shams as well as Fatemeh Mohammadi's 'Oblivion'.
“A squad of soldiers reach a dead end in a channel under enemy fire. They have no way back. They are left to make a tough decision to be released at the edge of death,” a synopsis for ‘The Passer’ reads.
'Birthday Night' is about Ahmad and Ali who are friends as well as job partners. They face a dramatic situation on their birthday night.
'Oblivion’ is Mohammadi’s first directing experience that deals with aging problems in only 15 minutes.
The objective with the Mercy to the Universe Short Film Competition organized for the first time in 2014 is to put forward the life and universal message of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by way of cinema which is the most important mass communication medium in this day and age.
