Iranian comedian released from hospital

Iranian actor Akbar Abdi was released from the hospital today.

Award-winning actor Akbar Abdi who was sent to the hospital this morning on the set of his new film, was released shortly afterwards.

Abdi, who has been working on his new series ‘6.5 Champions’ began experiencing excessive sweating and high blood pressure and was sent to the hospital at 6 AM local time in the Iranian city of Amol in Mazandaran province.

The actor who has a liver transplant along with a history of dealing with diabetes had to undergo a full medical examination along with some precautionary treatments before being released from the hospital later that day.

According to Hossein Qena’at, director of the series, Abdi was fine and back on set shortly after being released from the hospital.

‘6.5 Champions’ is a 15-part comedy series about a factory in northern Iran which goes out of business after 20 years of being active, with the owner’s children and grandchildren working against illicit importers in order to bring the factory back to life.

Bijan Banafsheh-Khah, Ramin Nasser-Nassir, Bahareh Rahnama, Arjang Amir-Fazli, and Shahram Qaedi are among the actors that will be appearing in ‘6.5 Champions’ alongside Akbar Abdi.
