Award-winning ‘The Fox’ to compete in TIAF

‘The Fox’ is set to compete in TIAF’s 11th biennial event.

Award-winning Iranian animation ‘The Fox’ directed by Sadegh Javadi Nikjeh is set to compete at the 11th biennial Tehran International Animation Festival (TIAF).

Produced by Sadeq Javadi, the short animation is a story about a fox on the verge of experiencing his first love when he is caught by an experienced fox hunter and his dog.

The hunter then ties his dog collar bell to the fox’s neck, preventing the fox from ever hunting again, and faced with a two-way road of starving to death or returning to the hunter.

Based on a true story, the animation is about a strange hunting technique utilized by one of the Qajarid dynasty’s monarchs over 200 years ago.

Nikjeh’s animation has participated in a total of 43 international film festivals, bringing home 17 awards, among which are Best Animated Short Film awards at Bulgaria’s Varna Film Festival, Canada’s Regina International Film Festival and Awards, and the UK’s Winchester Film Festival along with Best Animated Short Film, Best Director, and Best Sound at Australia’s Changing Face International Film Festival.

The TIAF is a biennial event held by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children & Young Adults.

The festival aims to create an environment for the exchange of ideas and experiences through goal-oriented collection and presentation of the arts, while spotting talent and encouraging innovation amongst new comers.

The 11th edition of the TIAF will be held in Tehran from March 3-7, 2019.
