Fajr contestant ’23 People’ releases first behind-the-scenes trailer.

37th annual Fajr Film Festival contestant ’23 People’ directed by Mehdi Jafari has released the film’s first behind-the-scenes trailer.

Jafari’s war drama which premiered on the opening day of the 37th annual Fajr Film Festival last Wednesday will be screened in at least two time-slots per day for the duration of the festival, and will be contending in the main competition of this year’s event.

Based on a memoir by the same name, ’23 People’ is a war drama which depicts the true story of a group of Iranian teenage prisoners of war who fell captive to enemy soldiers in the early 1980s during the war between Iran and Iraq’s Ba’athist regime.

The film crew is made up of Mehdi Jafari as writer and director, Mojtaba Faravardeh as producer, and Morteza Qeidi as cinematographer among others.

Founded in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival is an annual event held on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, celebrating Iranian cinema.

Over the years, the event has played a key role in the development of the Iranian film industry.

This year’s festival, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, is currently underway with the closing ceremony scheduled for February 11, 2019.
