‘Starless Dreams’ to screen in Bremen, Germany

Mehrdad Oskouei’s documentary ‘Starless Dreams’ has been set to screen in Germany.

The 76-minute doc, that experienced its international premiere at 2016 Berlin International Film Festival, has gained a special screening slot at the City 46 cinema in the city of Bremen on February 05, 2019.

This is not the first time, however, that the film will hit the German cinema screens. After winning the Amnesty International Film Prize at the 66th Berlinale, the film gained several other nominations and wins at German festivals such as the 31st Unabhaengiges Film Festival Osnabrueck and the 12th Move It Internationale Film Festival, Dresden.

‘Starless Dreams’ takes its audiences to a Correction and Rehabilitation Center in the Iranian capital of Tehran and sets its camera on underage women who are sent to this center for crimes like murder, violence or drug trafficking.

It shows women talking about their motifs of ever committing such crimes and how they fear of going back to society and falling back on their unfavorable routines. The women claim to have experienced this sense of belonging to a community for the first time here at this detention center.

Oskouei’s film has been screened at a plethora of international and national festivals. Some of the films events on that exhaustive list of festivals include 2017 Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival in Denmark and 2018 edition of the Budapest International Documentary Festival in Hungary.
