Shahnavaz, director of the classic ‘The Valiant of Tangestan’ and scriptwriter for the masterpiece ‘The Fateful Day’ died after succumbing to injuries from a fire blast at his home in Tehran on March 7, 2018.

He died at a Tehran hospital from injuries he suffered as a result of the fire at the age of 80.

Shahnavaz was buried in the southwestern coastal city of Delvar, beside the house of Raisali Delvari, who was the leader of an armed uprising against British forces during World War I.

The historical event was depicted in Shahnavaz's TV series 'The Valiant of Tangestan' in the early 1970s.

His tomb is next to the house of Raisali Delvari, which was registered in the National Cultural Heritage List in 1997 and was also converted into a museum showcasing objects from the armed uprising.
