Czech to host ‘Doch’ doc

59th Zlín Film Festival is to screen ‘Doch’ by Amir Mashhadi-Abbas.

The 59th Zlín Film Festival which is an International Film Festival for Children and Youth is set to screen ‘Doch’ by Amir Mashhadi-Abbas.    

Iran Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) as the producer of the film announced the news on Saturday.  

The director opened up about his documentary feature saying that, “The screenplay of ‘Doch’ is an interpretation of the proverb ‘where there's a will, there's a way’. The main character of the flick is a boy who gets what he wants with strong will and effort.”  

“Gholam-Reza is a teenage boy who wants to have a new bicycle but he cannot afford to buy it. Therefore, he attends a contest organized by the Literacy Movement Organization to teach the last illiterate person in a village to raise the funds for the bicycle. But the last illiterate is 90-year-old woman with bad hearing and poor eyesight,” comes as the plot summery of ‘Doch’.   

“Explore and discover” is noted as the main challenge and central theme of the upcoming 59th Zlín Film Festival.

Zlín Film Festival is the oldest and largest film festival of its kind in the world. 

Each year the festival presents around 300 films from more than 50 countries around the world.  Since 2010 festival attendance has exceeded 95,000 children and adults.

The Zlin Film Festival will be held in the Czech city from May 24 to June 1, 2019.
