Iranians have commemorated Fathers’ Day and Men’s Day on the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS), the first Imam of Shia Muslims, to recognize the contribution of fathers and fatherly figures to the lives of their children.
Father's Day is celebrated worldwide on a variety of dates and in Iran this year, Father's Day fell on March 19st on the birth anniversary of Shia figure Imam Ali (AS) who is considered the symbol of justice and courage.
Many people are not only honoring the place of fathers in the family but all men, including grandfathers, husbands and fatherly figures, often expressing their gratitude and paying respects with a small token gift, a friendly visit or simply a telephone call.
Imam Ali (AS) is the first Imam in Shia Islam and is regarded as being among the first believers in Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) message of Islam.
In homage to all fathers on national Father’s Day, Iranian celebrities have also shared pictures of their fathers in social media pages along with heartwarming messages.
