Iranian director, Kaveh Daneshmand’s short film ‘Alula’ has been accepted to attend at 2019 Oberhausen International Short Film Festival in Germany.
The film which will represent Czech Republic is set to be in competition at the Children's and Youth Film Competition section of the German film event.
A brief summary of the film reads, ‘A little girl that’s awaiting her parents to come home lets her imaginations take the best of her, so she gets carried away with her dreams.’
Born in 1982, Daneshmand is Iranian filmmaker who resides in Prague. He co-founded the Festival of Iranian Films in Prague in 2010. Ever since, he has been active in the field of film as a director and a screenwriter. Kaveh was also a member of the jury in the 52nd edition of the Zlín Film Festival, the 13th edition of the Mezipatra Film Festival and the 9th edition of the Prague Short Film Festival.
Daneshmand debut short has been ‘Occasional Showers’. The film attended the 34th edition of Fajr International Film Festival and gained the Critic Award of the Iranian film event.
Should ‘Alula’ win the Best short award of the festival, it will be automatically qualified to attend the Oscars Academy Awards.
The latest edition of Oberhausen International Short Film Festival is slated for May 1-6, 2019.
