Poland’s Kinolub to screen Iran’s ‘Alan’

Iranian short ‘Alan’ is to go on screen at the 2019 Kinolub Int’l Film Festival for Children and Youth in Poland.

Iranian short ‘Alan’ has been scheduled to go on screen at the 2019 edition of the Kinolub International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Poland.

Directed by Mostafa Gandomkar, ‘Alan’ is a short film about a Kurdish man in Syria who has lost his home and family during terrorist attacks.

The Iranian short film made its international debut at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival on February 3-11, 2017, in France.

It has attended several global film festivals, including the 11th Jahorina International Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the 14th Salento International Film Festival in Italy, the 8th Kurdish Film Festival in Germany, the 10th London Kurdish Film Festival in the UK, the 17th International Short Film Festival of Lille in France, the 6th Bangalore Short Film Festival in India, the 5th 9Filmfest in Thailand, the 17th Beirut International Film Festival in Lebanon, the 2017 Silhouette Film Festival in France, the 28th Sao Paulo International Short Film Festival in Brazil, and the 2018 Provinziale International Film Festival in Germany.

‘Alan’ has so far won a number of awards, including two awards at the 2018 Redline International Film Festival in Canada, top prize at the 14th Constance Short Film Festival in Germany, Best Kurdish Short Film Award at the 5th Duhok International Film Festival in Iraq, and best short film award of the 15th Eberswalde Film Festival in Germany.

The Kinolub is an international film festival organized since the year 2015 in the cities of Southern Poland – including small villages, where the screenings are held in local cultural institutions.

It is about bringing what is best in cinema to the young audiences (children and youth between 4 and 18 years of age).

Apart from film screenings, the Kinolub audiences have a chance to participate in festival workshops, special events and Q&A sessions.

The 2019 edition of the festival is slated for June 1-20, in the southern Polish cities of Lompy and Katowice from.
