Award-winning ‘The Scout’ is set to be screened at the inauguration ceremony of the 37th International Fajr Film Festival.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at Felestin Cinema in Tehran on April 17, 2019 with Iran cineastes in attendance.
Directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia, ‘The Scout’ is a 1988 production with a war theme.
The film is the story of a scout who risks his life during the Iran-Iraq war and passes through a route which is under heavy fire in order to find the soldiers and help them escape.
Mehrdad Soleimani, Ali-Reza Heidari, Gholam-Reza Ali-Akbari, Asghar Pour-Hajarian, Esmaeil Soltanian, Saeed Javanshir, Hamid-Reza Soltanian, Hossein Kiani, Hamid-Reza Charakchian, and Abdorrasoul Soltanian are among the cast list.
The movie is a winner of the Best Directing Award from the 7th Fajr Film Festival in 1988.
The ‘Restored Classics’ section of the 37th edition of the festival has also published official poster designed with an image from ‘The Scout’ movie.
This edition of the Iranian film event has restored some five of the most popular Iranian films of the 80s for screening at the abovementioned section.
The announced titles are ‘The Runner’ by Amir Naderi, ‘The Scout’ by Ebrahim Hatamikia, Dariush Farhang’s ‘The Spell’, ‘Frosty Roads’ by Masoud Jafari-Jozani and ‘The Last Action’ directed by Varuzh Karim-Masihi.
Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.
Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the 37th edition of Fajr International Film Festival will take place in Tehran from April 18 to 26, 2019.
