Iranian film ’23 People’ releases official English poster.

Award-winning flick ’23 People’ directed by Mehdi Jafari has released its official English poster.

Designed by Ali Faravardeh, the poster has been released in time for the film’s screening at the 37th annual Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF).

Jafari’s latest film will be contending along with two other Iranian films and 12 foreign films in the festival’s Eastern Vista competition.

The flick has also been selected as one of the films to be featured in the festival’s film market.

’23 People’ will be screened at the 37th FIFF in two time slots on Friday, April 19 at 22:00 local time and again on Monday, April 22 at 15:00.

Based on a memoir by the same name, ’23 People’ is a war drama which depicts the true story of a group of Iranian teenage prisoners of war who fell captive to enemy soldiers in the early 1980s during the war between Iran and Iraq’s Ba’athist regime.

Premiering at the 37th Fajr Film Festival (FFF) in February, the film has received wide recognition including the Crystal Simorgh Award for Best Film from a National View at the FFF’s National Competition, as well as the film of the year from the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO.

Established in 1982, the FIFF is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed filmmakers, and pays tribute to local and international films.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 37th edition of the Iranian film event will screen films in nine categories including the International Competition, Eastern Vista, Festival of Festivals, Popular Genre Films and Burn Olives which is a window to the changes in the world of Islam today. The festival will be held April 18-26, 2019 in Tehran, Iran.
