Fajr International Film Festival opening day in photos

The 37th Fajr International Film Festival is inaugurated in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The 37th edition of Fajr International Film Festival has been inaugurated in the Iranian capital city of Tehran, with prominent cineastes in attendance.

The inauguration ceremony was held in Felestin Cinema in Tehran on Wednesday.

During the ceremony, a book titled ‘The Scout’ and a restored version of ‘The Scout’ movie, directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia were unveiled.

The ceremony also witnessed the signing of an agreement between Reza Mirkarimi, the secretary of the festival, and Ali Asghar Peyvandi, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, which stipulates that all revenues raised from films participating at the festival to be deposited to the Red Crescent’s bank account.

Headed by Iranian filmmaker Reza Mirkarimi, the 37th Fajr International Film Festival will run in the capital, Tehran, until April 26.

A national version of the festival kicked off on January 30 and wrapped up on February 11.

Since its establishment in 1982, the festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.
