Cinema Verite director to attend Kazan Muslim Fest

The head of Cinema Verite Mohammad–Mehdi Tabatabainejad is to attend a meeting to be held on the sidelines of the 15th edition of Kazan International Muslim Film Festival in Russia.

According to Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) which is the organizer of Cinema Verite, Tabatabainejad will participate in the official meeting of international festival directors to be held in Kazan to exchange cultural and cinematic experiences between Kazan and the neighboring Muslim countries.

Kazan Muslim Film Festival is one of the largest annual film forums in Russia and will host Tabatabainejad who serves as the head of Iran’s major international festival of documentary films (Cinema Verite).  

Earlier reports have announced that a lineup of five Iranian short films is also competing at this year edition of the festival.

The program of the festival focuses on Russian and international films promoting the ideas of peace building, intercultural dialogue and tolerance regardless their religious affiliations.

The concept of the festival is reflected through its official motto ‘Through the dialogue of cultures to the culture of dialogue’.

The festival, which is currently underway in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, will be running until April 30, 2019.
