Iran titles to vie at Cobb Filmfest

Cobb International Film Festival in the US is to host a batch of titles from Iran.

The 5th Cobb International Film Festival in the US is to play host to a batch of titles from Iran.

‘Are You Volleyball?!’ by Mohammad Bakhshi, ‘Katyusha’ by Ali Atshani and ‘Balance’ by Barzan Rostami are Iran representatives at the festival which was formerly known as Marietta International Film Festival.  

Winner of over 35 awards on the international film festival circuit, ‘Are You Volleyball?!’ tells the story of a group of Arab asylum seekers who are sequestered in a refugee camp on the border awaiting the decision on their asylum requests.

They are in daily conflict with the soldiers guarding them until one day a deaf-mute boy becomes the catalyst for better communication between the two groups.

‘Balance’ is an animated film about the sacrifices that soldiers make in order for average person and future generations live in peace.

“Khalil is a former Iranian soldier who is known as "Khalil Katyusha" on Instagram. He has to spend some days with Arshia who is a rich boy. Their social class differences cause them not to get along with each other well,” is put by the official website of the event as ‘Katyusha’ plot summery.  

The Cobb International Film Festival is an opportunity for film makers of all levels to share their work.

The Festival accepts feature-length films, short films and documentary films of all lengths.

The upcoming film event is scheduled for August 1-4, 2019.
