Australian fest picks Iran’s ‘Katyusha’ as semifinalist

Iranian movie ‘Katyusha’ is picked as semifinalist at the 2019 Australian Inspirational Film Festival.

Iranian movie ‘Katyusha’ has been picked as semifinalist at the 2019 edition of the Australian Inspirational Film Festival (AIFF).

Directed by Ali Atshani in 2017, ‘Katyusha’ is nominated in the Feature Films section of the 2019 AIFF, held in March.

The comedy juxtaposes a rich spoiled young man with a soldier from a poor district.

Khalil, the soldier, is a pious man known as Khalil Katyusha. He has to spend some days with Arshia, a corny loaded guy. The gap that exists between their social levels and worldviews creates some problems.

“If I want to be successful in my life, I do not have to look at life like you do," a tagline for the flick reads.

Hadi Hejazifar, Ahmad Mehranfar, Mitra Hajjar, Linda Kiani, Mehran Rajabi, Khashayar Rad, Bijan Banafshe-Khah, Arjang Amir-Fazli, Leila Otadi and Qasem Zare are the most notable in the cast.

The movie was among the bestselling titles in the Iranian box office during its public screening.

‘Katyusha’ had its first international screening at the Movie Day of the Crossover Film Festival in the US in 2018.

It won Best Film Award at the 5th Rajasthan International Film Festival in India.

The Iranian film has also competed at the Marietta International Film Festival in the US and the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival in India.
