Iran short ‘Magralen’ to compete at Danish filmfest

Iran short ‘Magralen’ is to compete at the Odense Int’l Film Festival in Denmark.

Directed by Maryam Zarei and written by Payam Saeedi, Iranian short ‘Magralen’ has been selected to vie at the Odense International Film Festival (OFF) in Denmark.

The short film narrates the story of a family that lives in a car cemetery.

The family’s young daughter, who is blind, has made a car in the automobile graveyard in which they spend their days along with her elder brother.

“An incident disrupts the family's shaky order. Children who are struggling to cope with that incident are trying to find their own way. The elder brother tries to portray the bitter reality in a different way to his sister,” the film’s synopsis reads.

The short took part at the 69th Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) in Germany.

The OFF is Denmark's International Oscar-qualifying short film festival. With its launch in 1975, the OFF is also the country’s oldest film festival.

The 19th edition of the OFF is slated for August 26-September 1, 2019.
