Watch ifilm exclusive report on Iranian comedy ‘Prisoners’ directed by Masoud Dehnamaki.
ifilm has interviewed the director as well as the film’s visual effects supervisor Saeed Khalili, the director of photography Farshad Golsefidi, and the actor Amir Nouri.
The movie tells the story of a young student who is examining a number of prisoners to use the results in her thesis.
The prisoners take some days off to search some rural areas for an old treasure. While searching in cold snowy mountains, an avalanche stops them and they need something like a miracle to find a way back to prison!
The film is centered on everyday life and highlights the social issues that the current generation is facing.
In a recent review, Dehnamaki’s latest film was hailed as “charming, accompanied by clean humor, without sacrificing the tenets in order to be appealing.”
The reviewer added “‘Prisoners’ does a great job of utilizing comedy in order to link the audience with humanitarian and spiritual matters, ” concluding, “Dehnamaki proved that there is no need to cross the red lines in order to make people laugh.”
In addition to Nouri, Hedayat Hashemi, Borzou Arjmand, Behnam Tashakkor, Houman Barqnavard, Bahareh Afshari, Behnoush Bakhtiyari, and Asghar Naqizadeh, are among the cast of the film.
Tashakkor and Barqnavard, who have formed one of the best acting duos and are among Dehnamaki’s cast, have appeared in many ifilm features including ‘Cops and Robbers’, ‘The Doormat’, and ‘Chimney’.
