Fredonia Film Festival awards ‘Slaughter’, ‘Forouzan’

Fredonia Film Festival in the US awards two Iran short titles.

The 2nd Fredonia Film Festival in the US has picked two Iran short titles as award winners of the event.

Abbas Khosravinejad’ leading short film ‘Forouzan’ succeeded to garner Best Film Award of the event while ‘Slaughter’ co-directed by Saman Hosseinpour and Ako Zand-Karimi was announced as the Best Film from the Audience's View.

‘Slaughter’ is the story of a family who is forced to sell their cow in order to survive a tough winter; however, the son of the family is not buying the decision so he lets the cow go.

The film had its first international presence at 2018 Early Bird International Student Film Festival in Bulgaria.

‘Forouzan’ is the story of a widow who lives with her two young children in a village. She attempts to protect her family and their herd of sheep against the attack of thieves at midnight.

Khosravinejad’s award-winning title has attended various international film events before, including 2018 Pickurflick Indie Film Festival in India, 2018 High Peak Independent Filmfest in the UK, 2018 Queen City Cinephiles in the US, 3rd Inca Imperial Int’l Film Festival in Peru, 21st FRESCO Int’l Filmfest in Armenia, and 5th Los Angeles Diversity Filmfest in the US.

Previous awards granted to ‘Forouzan’ are Best Short Film Award from the 1st Astoria Film Festival and an honorable mention from Independent Shorts Awards in the US.

The Fredonia Film Festival was established in 2018 by a group of people with a passion for the art of filmmaking.

The event took place on May 16-17, 2019 in the US.
