‘Zohreh’ to vie in South Africa

Iranian flick ‘Zohreh’ set to screen in South African film festival.

Iranian film ‘Zohreh’ is set to compete at the Durban International Film Festival in South Africa.

In its first international appearance, the flick directed and produced by Siamak Ebrahimi is set to take part in the competition section of the festival’s 40th annual event.

Written by Nikou Bastani, ‘Zohreh’ which was filmed as a long take narrates the story of the final hours of the life of an athlete prior to her migration.

Melissa Zakeri who has appeared in films such as ‘Nameless Alley’, ‘Mothering’, ‘Abajan’, and ‘The Man who Became a Horse’ starred as the film’s leading actress.

Shirin Afakashi, Soroush Taheri, Sajjad Babaei, Arya Delfani, Faranak Moradi, Farimah Masgarnia, Alireza Shariati, Sajjad Alikhani, Yasamin Farrokhza, and Arsam Gharib have also appeared in the film’s cast.

Presenting a wide selection of culturally diverse films from around the world with a focus on Africa and South Africa, the Durban International Film Festival attracts an average of 25,000 attendants for its yearly event.

The festival’s 40th annual event will be held July 18-28.
