Here is English translation of some selected parts by ifilm English website.
In a part of the interview Saeed Soltani emphasized the importance of the rich story as the raw material of film production to guarantee the success of a series or a movie. He also said that when a cinematic work or a TV series lacks this basic element, it will be unable to build strong relationships with the viewer. He described this element as the secret of success for the everlasting series. “A-class TV series productions need rich stories and new narrations, the director added, which are among the essential requirements of dramatic series that can deeply involve the viewers.”
According to Mr. soltani, those works that exclude dramatic alphabet and rhythm from the script cannot provoke the viewers to engage in the main characters of the series. The viewer follows each episode of the series that contains dramatic rhythm. The TV viewers are after series which plays the role of a storyteller for them. In fact, those series that narrate a rich story, as a result, can drag the viewers to follow them and engage them in every minute of the series.
Mr. Soltani said that the above mentioned elements were the primary platforms for the early stages of series making. Other important stages respectively include the time setting and the historical events that the series depicts.
He ended the interview with a nice analysis of the viewer’s expectations adding, when the story of a series does not contain strong framework based on dramatic structure, we cannot expect that the viewer can witness the destiny of protagonist and the antagonist of the series. To say it in simple form, people like to see a realistic story about the fate of the people playing in the series with different roles and this does not happen unless the narrative of the story contains dramatic framework.
