Italian Giffoni nominates Iranian ‘Knock out’

The 49th Giffoni Int’l Film Festival in Italy nominates Iranian feature ‘Knock out’.

The 49th edition of the Giffoni International Film Festival in Italy has nominated Iranian feature ‘Knock out’.

Directed by Gholamreza Ramezani, the film is nominated for the Gryphon award at the Italian event.

‘Knock Out’ is competing for the best feature award at the ‘Generator +13’ competitive section, dedicated to full feature length films for audiences from 13 to 15 years of age.

According to the Giffoni website, for the Generator +13 and +16 competitive sections, the international jury is composed of teenagers from all over the world (600 circa per section) who will award the Gryphon to the best feature film.

‘Knock Out’ portrays the story of three teenagers, each striving to become a champion of a reputable cup, although “the champion is not necessarily always the one who wins.”

Nasim Adabi, Afshin Hashemi, Nazanin Ahmadi, Sirous Hemmati, Majid Norouzi, Dorsa Bakhtiar, Sepehrad Farzami, Siavash Assadpour, and Hossein Lotfi are among the film’s cast.

‘Knock Out’ was premiered at the 31st annual International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Isfahan where it brought home three awards, including Best Youth Film.

The film is a joint production of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults and the Farabi Cinema Foundation.

The Giffoni International Film Festival is one of the most well-known children's film festivals in the world. It takes place in the small Italian town of Giffoni Valle Piana in Campania, Southern Italy, close to Salerno and Naples.

The 49th Giffoni International Film Festival is slated for July 19-27, 2019 in Italy.
