Queen Palm nominates Iran’s ‘Boarding Pass’ for 5 awards

Iranian movie ‘Boarding Pass’ is nominated to receive 5 awards at the Queen Palm festival in the US.

Directed by Mehdi Rahmani, Iranian movie ‘Boarding Pass’ has been nominated for five awards at the Queen Palm Film Festival (QPIFF) in the US.

The QPIFF has published a list of the nominees which will compete at the festival in July 2019.

From ‘Boarding Pass’, Neda Jebraeeli is nominated for Best Actress, Amir Arabi, Mehdi Rahmani and Babak Mirzakhani for Best Screenplay, Mohammad Rasouli for Best Cinematography, Mohammad-Reza Moeeni for Best Editing and Babak Mirzakhani for Best Music.

‘Boarding Pass’ is about body packers that swallow pre-packaged drugs willfully or under duress to transfer them across the borders. They usually carry opium, heroin, cocaine or amphetamine sealed in layers of plastic wrap in their stomachs for smuggling.

The story begins when a package is not sealed properly and starts leaking in the stomach of a body packer. Then the dying process starts with dilated pupils, slower breathing, ruptured intestines, and finally heart failure.

‘Boarding Pass’ is also slated to be premiered in Iran on June 22.

The QPIFF is a bi-monthly film, music and screenwriting contest with a live Annual Screening and Awards Show Event in Palm Springs, California.

The QPIFF honors films from around the world with an enormous collection of awards in different categories and genres.
