The subject of smuggling drugs through body packing which is the main theme of Rahmani’s flick is ‘a global subject’ as the director puts it. He says that this is the most prevalent way to traffic drugs.
Rahmani suggests that ‘Boarding Pass’ may not be putting forward a new idea to international audiences but it does so within the frameworks of Iranian cinema.
While doing research to write the screenplay, Rahmani, who is also the writer of the film, found out that sadly, it is women and children who comprise the highest number of victims of body packing.
