Iranian short film harvests Canada’s fest award

Iran’s short ‘Double’ garners award at the Mirror Mountain Filmfest in Canada.

Directed and written by Ronak Jafari, Iranian short ‘Double’ has garnered Best Screenplay Award at the 2019 edition of the Mirror Mountain Film Festival in Canada.

The 26-minute film is about two women trekking a long road to a village.

Trying to find her way to a film set, a young actress gets derailed into a journey as bizarre as the film she is about to act in.

Sahra Asadollahi, Banafsheh Araabi, Houman Rahnamoun, Toufan Mehrdadian, Alireza Pourhashem, Behnam Momeni, Shima Khazaee, Dorsa Abolfazli, and Amir Shahverdi are among the cast.

‘Double’ has participated at several global film events, including the 2019 CoSM Women’s Visionary Film Symposium in the US, the 17th ONE SHOT Film Festival in Armenia, and the 40th Moscow International Film Festival in Russia where it was named among the three best short titles.

The Mirror festival aims to bring the best films from independent and alternative cinema to Canada’s capital.

The festival is a comprehensive event that welcomes all types of films and people to share the collective cinema experience.

The 4th edition of the festival was held on July 26-27, 2019 in Canada’s capital of Ottawa.
