Islamic Revolution leader meets religious poets

On the eve of the martyrdom anniversary of the daughter of the Messenger of Islam, Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (SA), the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei received a group of religious poets.

In this meeting Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the importance of the content in religious poems and said, “Praising the Fourteen Infallibles and narrating their plight is a key component of our religious poetry. But sound and rational word inspired by a right view must be involved and one must avoid a vulgar and superficial reading of the matter.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added that drawing parallels between what happened in the early years of Islam and the world of today is the duty of  all religious poets. He said, “The Messenger of Islam and his infallible household all were engaged in an effective fight with injustice, infidelity, dissention and debauchery and because of this, they were martyred by despots and the oppressors of their time.”

“To be a true follower of the Fourteen Infallibles, one should continue fighting against infidelity and dissention. He added that to fight against infidelity and dissention is simple and possible in the Islamic Republic of Iran, while under the sinister rule in many neighboring countries, any criticism the US will have severe consequences,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.  

Ayatollah Khamenei also added that the fight against oppression is not restricted to sword, and one can fight against oppressors using the medium of words and poetry.

The leader of the Islamic Revolution said the campaign against the Islamic way of life is in accordance with the western propaganda and on should not stay put surrounded by walls, but every poet should elaborate on the Islamic way of life and its moral principals through poetry.
