Watch ifilm exclusive report on Iranian animated movie ‘Mobarak’ directed by Mohammad-Reza Najafi-Emami and produced by Ali Najafi-Emami.
ifilm: Iran uses the solar calendar and the solar calendar is coming to an end in a few weeks time. The list of new movies for the New Year is going to be released very soon.
This movie that we’re going to talk about today is suitable for children and it’s an animation and it’s called ‘Mobarak’.
Mohammadreza Najafi Emami is mostly known as visual effects director. One of his great works is ‘Scandal 2’; however he has decided to make his first live-acted animated movie in Iran.
Mohammadreza Najafi Emami: You know it’s been almost 20 years that I’ve been working on animations. I was always trying to prove that high-quality animations can be made in Iran too; high quality special effects for cinema and television.
When I would see low-quality movies, I would get upset and wanted to show that we can make high quality animations in Iran. I tried my best to show the true ability of Iranian animators in making animations and special effects, but my efforts didn’t bear fruit.
So I decided to start myself. My brother came and helped me and we managed to make such an animation.
Ali Najafi Emami, Producer: I’ve already worked on animations. I’ve been working in this field for years. We’ve made series for television stations. But when it comes to feature films, it’s a completely different story; whether it should be real or animation or a mixture of these two which was a new experience for us. It was done for the first time in Iran. We didn’t think that it would be so difficult.
ifilm: Making and producing an animation movie is very costly.
Mohammadreza Najafi Emami: I can only say that my brother helped me a lot because I’m very interested in animations and special effects. That’s all I can say. My brother supported me a lot and I managed to make this.
