Ebrahim Hatamikia begins filming ‘Exit’

Iranian director Ebrahim Hatamikia begins filming ‘Exit’ in southwest Iran.

Acclaimed Iranian director Ebrahim Hatamikia has begun filming his latest movie ‘Exit’ in southwest Iran.

The shooting for ‘Exit’, which is written and being directed by Hatamikia, began in the Iranian county of Gachsaran on Wednesday.

Iranian actress Pantea Panahiha and popular actor Faramarz Qaribian are among the stars who recently joined Hatamikia’s new project.

‘Exit’, which marks Hatamikia’s 20th film, reportedly focuses on the theme of social justice (or injustice!).

The 57-year-old filmmaker studied scriptwriting and began his career with writing screenplays for short films about the eight-year Iraq-Iran war in the 1980s.

He directed his first feature film ‘Identity’ in 1986. He established himself as a director who addresses issues pertaining to the Iraq-Iran war and its aftermath with films such as ‘The Scout’ (1988), ‘From Karkheh to Rhine’ (1992) and ‘The Glass Agency’ (1997).

Hatamikia was nominated for two Crystal Simorghs for Best Script and Best Director at Fajr International Film Festival for his movie ‘From Karkheh to Rhine’, but it was ‘The Glass Agency’ that brought him two Crystal Simorghs.

He has received several domestic and international awards for ‘In the Name of My Father’, ‘Red Ribbon’, ‘The Glass Agency’, ‘From Karkheh to Rhine’, ‘Mohajer (Immigrant)’, ‘The Scout’, ‘The Purple’, and ‘Che (Chamran)’.

He won the best director award at the 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival for his movie ‘Damascus Time’.
