The event of Ashura has special value among Iranian nation; and being so, the Iranian TV has dedicated time and energy to produce series and films that will reflect upon such elevated values. Some of these productions have found their way to the nation’s hearts so vastly that recorded themselves as some irreplaceable works of art.

One of those productions that has been also televised on ifilm English is ‘The Tenth Night’ which has kept up with the expectations of the channel and succeeded to gain huge popularity among international audiences as well.

Directed by Hassan Fathi, ‘The Tenth Night’ starts off with a cliché romance where a pauper falls in love with an enchanted Qajar princess who in this case under the spell of aunt is trying to get revenge on all men.

When finally this poor young man finds the courage in himself to propose to the woman, he faces a condition which is almost near impossible for him to be able to meet and as a result win her hand in marriage.

She wants him to perform Ta’zieh while she knows the government of the time had banned such ceremonies to be hold. Being ardently in love, he accepts the deal and goes for the performance during the curfew hours the government had set.

Hossein Yari, Parviz Fallahipour, Katayoun Riahi, Roya Teymourian, Sorayya Qasemi, Mahmoud Pakniayyat, Akram Mohammadi, Parviz Pour-Hosseini and Sediqeh Kianfar are some prominent stars among the cast list of the flick.
