Tehran honors Iranian artists died this year

Tehran’s Eyvan-e Shams Hall hosted a ceremony to commemorate Iranian artists who died during the current Iranian year.

Iranian artists who passed away during the current Iranian year were commemorated at a ceremony held in Tehran’s Eyvan-e Shams Hall.

A large number of artists, cineastes and cultural officials, including veteran actor Jamshid Mashayekhi, composer Mohammad Sarir and singer Abdolhossein Mokhtabad took part at the ceremony.

Iranian Artists Forum Director Majid Rajabi-Memar addressing the ceremony said more than 105 artists active in film industry passed away in 1395.

The ceremony also commemorated the acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami with screening ‘76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Kiarostami’ which is a montage film by his close friend Seifollah Samadian.

Samadian made a short speech after the screening, saying Kiarostami was unequaled in the Iranian world of art.

The organizers also unveiled a book containing biographical information about the deceased artist during the ceremony.

Among the most notable Iranian artists passed away last year are actors Davoud Rashidi, Jafar Vali and Hassan Joharchi, as well as filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.
