Imam Reza’s (AS) martyrdom in ‘Guardianship of Love’

The extract depicts some final scenes of the series where Al-Ma'mun, the seventh Abbasid caliphate, forces the imam to drink a poisoned juice.

Directed by Mehdi Fakhimzadeh, the Iranian series ‘Guardianship of Love’ tells the story of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shia imam, at a time when the Islamic territory was ruled by tyranny.

Imam Reza (AS) stood up against the tyrants with nothing more than non violence. This tale captures the journey of the imam and how he captured millions of hearts.

The series cast list includes Enayat Bakhshi, Bijan Emkanian, Bita Farrahi, Farimah Farjami, Danial Hakimi, Rambod Javan, Mohammad Sadeqi, Ladan Tabatabaee, Akbar Zanjanpour, Merila Zarei, and the director Fakhimzadeh.

Farrokh Nemati has played the role of Imam Reza (AS); however his face is covered by a halo of light for the iconography of the holy figure.
