ifilm website has revealed a trailer for the documentary ‘Finding Farideh’, Iran’s contender at the Oscars 2020.
Co-directed by Azadeh Mousavi and Kourosh Ataee, the documentary has been selected to represent Iran at the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony.
The story of ‘Finding Farideh’ begins with a newspaper report which reads a young woman who was adopted by a Dutch family is looking for her biological parents.
It has won trophies such as an honorary award at the 20th Ojai Film Festival in the US, Best Documentary award at the 5th Herat International Women's Film Festival in Afghanistan, as well as awards at Iran’s Cinema Verite (international documentary film festival) and Iran Documentary Independent Award.
The documentary was screened at the 16th Big Sky Film Festival in the US and the 5th Iranian Film Festival of Zurich in Switzerland.
‘Finding Farideh’ also represented Iran at the 2018 Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Australia, the 19th Flahertiana Film Festival in Russia, and the 16th Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in Ukraine.
