Cinema Museum to host ‘Ferdowsi’

Cinema Museum of Iran to screen re-mastered edition of Iranian classic

Iran’s Cinema Museum is set to screen a digitally re-mastered edition of the Iranian classic ‘Ferdowsi’.

The film is the latest in a series of historical motion pictures that are being screened at the venue.

Based on the life of Iranian poet Abul-Qasem Ferdowsi, renowned for his 11th century classic “Shahnameh” (Book of Kings), the flick was originally shot 85 years ago.

Directed by Abdul-Hussain Sepanta and produced by Ardeshir Irani, the 1934 film celebrating the legendary poet’s millennia anniversary was Iran’s sixth cinematic production.

Following his directorial debut, Sepanta would go on to create several other films, all of which were based on original Iranian historical epics.

His titles include ‘Shirin & Farhad’, ‘Dark Eyes’, and ‘Leili & Majnoon’.
