Mahmoudi brothers film 'Parting' to vie at Wisconsin film festival

The 2016 Afghan-Iranian drama film 'Parting' directed and produced by the Mahmoudi brothers has been scheduled to compete at the Wisconsin Film Festival in the US.

The event starts on March 30 with ‘Parting’ to enjoy two screening slots at Wisconsin’s Sundance Cinema on April 1 and 6.

Mahmoudi’s movie has gone on screen at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea in October 2016 as well as the 21st edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala in India.

'Parting’ tells the story of two young Afghans in love, Nabi and Fereshteh. Fereshteh leaves the country with her parents to seek refuge in Iran and Nabi is to seek a better life for her love. The love story fluctuates among reaching and separation.

Founded in 1999, the Wisconsin Film Festival is an annual event which is held every April in Madison, Wisconsin, and has recently been expanded from five days to eight days.

The Festival presents a broad range of independent American and world cinema (narrative, documentary, experimental, shorts), restorations and revivals, and locally made pictures from Wisconsin filmmakers.

The 2017 edition of the event has been slated for March 30 to April 6.
