In a rave review by US film magazine the Hollywood Reporter, new Iranian film 'Tsunami' has been lauded as different to be shown at festivals.
The review said of the flick by Milad Sadrameli, "It [The film] should make all the difference for festivals," adding taekwondo "is colorful sport to film, full of sudden kicks to the head and fast moves, and Sadrameli clearly enjoys recreating it onscreen."
Regarding the last encounter of two characters, the piece reads, "The final fight between Morteza and Behrad who, though they are only seeing who will qualify for the national team in their weight category, are filmed like Foreman vs. Ali."
In a 1974 historic boxing event, famous champions George Foreman and Muhammad Ali had a face-off. The fight has been named one of the greatest boxing matches in the world.
The film which depicts the competitive challenges faced by athletes was directed by Milad Sadrameli and produced by Ali Sartipi.
According to the film’s caption, “An Iranian taekwondo athlete is so drowned in his sport activities and competitions that problems hit his personal life like a tsunami”.
