Iranian director’s animation nominated for BAFTA awards

Iranian director’s animation ‘Grandad Was a Romantic’ is nominated for the BAFTA awards.

Directed by Maryam Mohajer, the animation ‘Grandad Was a Romantic’ has been nominated for the 2020 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

The animation is told through the eyes of a child who narrates the story of her grandfather’s infinite love for her grandmother.

The film records their first interactions – falling in love, getting married and starting a family.

The piece is told skillfully through bold painted animations. It offers a childlike sense of intimacy and frank storytelling.

The BAFTA is an independent arts charity that selects the best international works to support new talents.

The event includes workshops, master-classes, scholarships, lectures, etc.

The awards will be bestowed to the winners on February 2, 2020.
