Olympia filmfest honors ‘Copper Notes of a Dream’

The 22nd Olympia Int’l Film Festival for Children and Young People in Greece honors Iranian doc ‘Copper Notes of a Dream’.

The 22nd edition of the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People in Greece has honored Iranian documentary ‘Copper Notes of a Dream’.

The film received a special mention for Best Feature Documentary Director at the Olympia event.

“To a film that emphasizes on the right of the children to have dreams – even and especially in the condition of war,” the Greek event’s website wrote for honoring the Iranian documentary.

Made by Reza Farahmand and produced by Morteza Shabani, the documentary tells the story of Mallouk, a ten year old boy who collects the copper wire along with his friends.

They gather the wire from homes which were demolished during war and sell the collection in order to make a living.

Their passion for the pursuit of a childhood dream, however, lightens the warmth of hope in their hearts, enabling them to find happiness among the ruins.

‘Copper Notes of a Dream’ has been screened at a number of global events, including the 13th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) in Australia, the 11th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in South Korea, the 15th Camden International Film Festival in the US, and the 2nd Hainan Island International Film Festival in China.

The Olympia film festival combines entertainment with education, introduces young people to cinema and introduces them to the most important, award-winning films from all over the world, while at the same time encouraging them to make their own.

The 22nd Olympia event was held on November 30-December 7, 2019.
